YLNI Farmers Market to host first-ever fundraiser with murder mystery theme - WANE

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — A downtown Fort Wayne farmers market will host its first-ever fundraiser Saturday with a murder mystery twist.

YLNI Farmers Market’s fundraiser will be held at The History Center in the form of a dinner and an auction.

Ashley Wagner, the market manager for YLNI Farmers Market, said the market’s growth has led to organizers looking for new ways to expand the market and support vendors and customers.

“The market continues to grow summer after summer, and along with that growth has always come growing pains, and so to offset some of those struggles, we decided to plan a fundraiser,” Wagner said in a press release.

Travis Adkins, vice president of Community Impact for YLNI Farmers Market, said the dinner will feature a murder mystery theme akin to classic Hollywood movies.

“Our caterer, which is called Out of a Jam — it’s one of our vendors — they are kind of gearing the food to that,” Adkins said.

Edwin Coe will provide a cash bar during the fundraiser that will also feed into the murder mystery theme.

Some of the prizes available through the auction include lunch with Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry, a 6-month family membership for the YMCA and an in-home cooking class for eight people.

Adkins said YLNI Farmers Market plans to use the fundraiser as a learning experience in order to build on future fundraisers.

“We’re just seeing how it goes and reacting and seeing what makes sense on this one and maybe what we can change for future events,” Adkins said.

All tickets can be purchased on YLNI Farmers Market’s website. Single tickets cost $100, couples tickets cost $95, and tickets for a table of eight cost $720.
